It's simple! Head to app.yakshack.co, find a Shack near you, scan the QR code on the equipment, and it unlocks automatically. You can also book in advance through the web app to guarantee your spot. When you're done, just return it to the Shack and lock it back in.

You don't need to book in advance, but you can at app.yakshack.co to avoid disappointment. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so booking ahead is a great idea on busy days.

What equipment is provided with each rental?

Each paddleboard comes with a paddle, a leash, and a buoyancy aid rated for people between 40-130kg. Each kayak comes with a paddle and a buoyancy aid rated for people between 40-130kg. Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times while using our equipment.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself and clothes you don't mind getting wet! We'd suggest bringing sun cream, water, and a dry bag for your phone. In cooler months, a wetsuit is a good idea.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

Safety comes first. If conditions become unsafe during your session, please return to shore and secure the equipment back in the Shack. The web app provides current forecast conditions, and we may restrict access during severe conditions.

Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times on the water. Buoyancy aids must be worn by everyone.

What if I fall in?

It happens to everyone! Stay calm. If you're on a paddleboard, your leash will keep the board close. If you're in a kayak, it may drift, so try to keep hold of it and keep an eye on your paddle. Climb back in and carry on, it's all part of the adventure!

Our Shacks are designed to be available year-round, weather permitting. The web app will show real-time availability at each location. Winter paddling can be beautiful, just wrap up warm!

Is it safe to go out alone?

We recommend paddling with a buddy where possible. Always wear your buoyancy aid, tell someone where you're going, and check the forecast. The web app provides a safety video and current forecast conditions before every session.

What if I damage the equipment?

Please report any damage through the app as soon as it happens. If you report damage, you won't be charged the full cost of repair, but there is a charge for damaged equipment. If damage is not reported, you may be charged up to £400. We have people regularly checking the kit and can trace damage back to individual sessions, so please always report it to avoid higher charges.

What should I do in an emergency on the water?

In a water emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Stay calm, stay with your board or kayak (they float!), and try to attract attention. Always carry your phone in a waterproof case when paddling.
